Create Some “Go To” Menus

One of the most important things to have in your life is your “Go To” menus and food.  My go to menus are as follow:

 

Burritos


Mexican Rice


Refried Beans

 

Cube Steak


Canned Corn


Frozen Veggies of choice


Good store bread

I have all of the ingredients on hand for these menus just about all the time.  (I may have to buy some fresh bread and maybe a salad mix.)  I can put the meal on the table in short order.  My husband and I really like these menus.  These dishes are easy to cook.  Everyone needs at least 3 or 4 of these kinds of menus.  Of course, you do not want to cook these dishes all the time, but 3 times a month would not be too much for the normal family.  I use my go to menus when something comes up and I don’t have time to prepare what I was planning for that night.  I also use them when it has been a hard day and I am too tired to cook anything that is a lot of work.  They are also ones that we usually have on the day that we return home from a trip.  There are usually a lot of things to do upon your return from a trip such as laundry, putting things away, picking up pets, going through accumulated mail, so I like to have an easy homemade meal that night.

 

1.  Find easy menus that your family really likes.  These menus need to include ingredients that can be bought and stored ahead.  You want menus with a minimum of fresh ingredients unless they are ingredients that you always have on hand.

 

2.  Buy enough ingredients for several of these meals and have them on hand in the pantry and freezer.  When you use them up, replace them the next time you grocery shop.
