Mulled Cider

 

Hot cider is excellent on a cold winter’s day.  I have served it on Thanksgiving while everyone is waiting for dinner.

sticks cinnamon

whole cloves
2
teaspoons whole allspice
1
gallon apple cider
1
cup light brown sugar, firmly packed

 

           

 

Tie spices in a small cheesecloth bag.  Pour cider into a large enamel or stainless steel kettle then add bag of spices and brown sugar.  Simmer, uncovered for 15-60 minutes, remove bag of spices.  Serve hot.  The cider can be kept warm in a Crockpot on low.  Makes 12 servings.
