Baked Custard


eggs, slightly beaten
cup granulated sugar
teaspoons vanilla extrack
Dash of salt
ci[s ,o;l. scalded
Ground nutmeg



Heat oven to 350° F.  Mix eggs, sugar, vanilla and salt in bowl gently.  Gradually stir in milk.  Pour into 12  6-ounce custard cups through strainer.  Let sit for 10 to 15 minutes.  Sprinkle with nutmeg.  Place cups in rectangular roasting pan.  Pour very hot water into roasting pan within 1/2-inch of top.  Bake about 45 minutes.  Serve warm or chilled.  Refrigerate.
