Linda's Spaghetti Sauce

lb. ground beef

lb. mushrooms, sliced

cup olive oil

cans (28 ounce) tomatoes

can (28 ounce) tomato puree

can (16 ounce) tomato puree

cups chopped fresh parsley

teaspoons dried sweet basil

teaspoons oregano

cups red wine

tablespoons sugar

teaspoons Italian Seasoning

bay leaf
Salt and pepper

 

 

Brown ground beef and crumble; drain well.  Heat oil and add onions, mushrooms and garlic.  Cook until wilted.  Add ground beef, tomatoes (processed briefly in food processor), tomato puree, parsley, basil, oregano, wine, sugar, salt, pepper, bay leaf.

 

Bring to a boil.  Reduce heat and simmer 2 hours, stirring occasionally. 

 

Approximately 30 servings.
