Marinated Grilled Steak

medium shallots, minced

tablespoons dried thyme leaves

tablespoons packed dark brown sugar

cup soy sauce

tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/4
cup balsamic vinegar
2/3
cup vegetable oil

pounds steak
1/2
cup water
1/4
cup butter

 

 

Combine the shallots, thyme, brown sugar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, and oil in a zip-loc plastic bag.  Add the steaks.  Place the bag in a bowl in the refrigerator to marinate overnight.

 

Prepare grill.  Drain the steaks, reserving the marinade.  Pour the marinade into a small saucepan.  Add the water and simmer the sauce 4 to 5 minutes and stir in the butter. 

 

Grill the steaks until medium.  Let steaks stand 4 to 5 minutes after grilling.  Thinly slice steaks.  Bring the marinade-butter mixture to a boil, pour over the meat, and serve immediately.
