Linda’s Easy Spaghetti and Meat

Spaghetti with Meat

Spaghetti is a favorite food of my husband’s, so we have it often.  I often just use bottled sauce.  I would recommend doing a side by side comparison of various bottled spaghetti sauces to find your family’s favorite!  You can use the meat of your choice, selecting from Italian sausage, prepared meatballs or ground beef.  If you select ground beef, I would suggest seasoning it with Italian seasoning as well as pepper and salt.  You will need to cook the ground beef or Italian sausage in a separate skillet before adding to the sauce.  Prepared meatballs can be heated in the sauce, and do not have to be defrosted first if frozen.  I recommend buying freshly grated Parmesan cheese and avoiding the can!  I usually use Barilla pasta and cook it just until done through.

pound meat of your choice (Italian sausage, prepared meatballs
or ground beef)
26 to 32 ounce jar bottled marinara spaghetti sauce
pound pasta (spaghetti or shape of your choice)
teaspoon salt (optional)
Parmesan cheese for garnish

Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil.  Meanwhile, cook the meat (see directions above) and heat the sauce in a saucepan.  When water is fully boiling, add 1 teaspoon salt, if desired and pasta.  Stir and cook at boil until pasta is done, according to package directions.  When pasta is done, drain immediately in a colander.  If you prefer your spaghetti fully sauced, return spaghetti to cooking pot and add the sauce and meat and mix thoroughly and then place in serving dish.  If you prefer the sauce on top of the cooked spaghetti, rinse the spaghetti with hot water and place in serving bowl.  Place the sauce and meat in separate dishes and serve.
